We ask you for personal information so that you can receive appropriate care and treatment. This information is recorded on computer and we are registered under the Data Protection Act. The practice will ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times by all members of the practice team. However, for the effective functioning of a multi-disciplinary team it is sometimes necessary that medical information about you is shared between members of the practice team.
Concerned about your information being shared? What you need to know
The NHS is planning to introduce an improved way for GP practices to share information about patients- called the General Practice Data for Planning and Research data collection. News of these plans has caused some concern to some of our patients, who have decided that they don’t want their data to be involved.
We have now been informed that no data will be shared in this new way until 1 September 2021. If you have already been in touch with the practice to ask to be ‘opted out’, your request will be honoured. This will not affect your own care. To find out more about how and why the NHS securely collects and uses data, please go to this website.
